The 1,500 lb club

242 members total 1,500 lb (680.4 kg) or more, 0.8% of members who logged all three lifts. 1,200 lb (544.3 kg) is our own step between 1,000 and 1,500. When your logged total is rising, your Progress page forecasts when you may reach each 100 lb step up to 1,500 lb, as long as that date falls within two years.

What counts toward the total

Three lifts: the back squat, the bench press and the deadlift. Add your best single in each. No federation runs the club, so the person running the challenge sets the rules. The University at Buffalo's recreation program counts the sum of your maximum bench press, squat and deadlift. Rogue Fitness runs a yearly 1000LB Club Challenge where all three one-rep maxes must be done inside one hour, with tiers from 500 lb up to 1,500 lb and over.

How we count members

Each member counts once, through their latest saved session that holds a squat, a bench press and a deadlift (conventional or sumo, whichever is heavier) at 1 to 10 reps. Each lift becomes an estimated one-rep max with the Wathan formula, and the three are added. These are estimates from training logs, so a member counted here has not necessarily lifted 1,000 lb on one day under a judge. Members who turned off community statistics, members whose saved age is under 13, and sessions with physically implausible numbers are left out. The counts refresh once a day.

Getting to 1,000

A total grows when all three lifts grow. Train each lift at least twice a week, log every session, and let the Smart Coach point out the lift that lags. Each program guide below comes with a sample week and a spreadsheet.

Common questions

Is the 1000 lb club based on one-rep maxes?

Yes. It adds your best single squat, bench press and deadlift. Our member counts use one-rep maxes estimated from sets of 1 to 10 reps, so a count can run a little above or below a tested max.

How much is 1,000 lb in kilograms?

453.6 kg. The 1,200 lb step is 544.3 kg and the 1,500 lb club is 680.4 kg.

Is there a women's 1000 lb club?

The two clubs we cite use one total for everyone, and Rogue's challenge has tiers that start at 500 lb. The table above shows how many women members reach each total.

Does a sumo deadlift count?

Here, yes: we take the heavier of your conventional and sumo deadlift. A challenge you enter may set its own rule.

I have the 1000lb Club badge. Why might I not be in the count?

The badge is yours to keep from the first saved session whose estimated total reaches 1,000 lb. The count on this page looks only at your latest session with all three lifts at 1 to 10 reps, and leaves out numbers outside our plausibility limits. If that latest session adds up to less, you keep the badge but are not in today's count.
